Bridal Shower

Large Print Stand

My client requested a large poster stand for her bridal shower. After our consultation, I collected three cartoon style samples for her to choose between. The color palette is inspired by the decor for the event. The whole project took about 80 hours to complete with only two rounds of review.

Dress and Shoe Edits

I found a reference photo that was rather close to her vision. To match her vision completely, the original image on the left was first modified to remove the ruffle, and then again to change the shoes.

Gradient Mesh

Once the reference photo was approved, I moved into Illustrator to create the character version of my client. Using the reference photo of the dress and shoes I was able to create the entire body out of gradient meshes. For the head, I used a reference photo she had provided to created her head in the same style. She didn’t ask for this, but I included the necklace from her photo in the artwork. She was very happy with that detail as it’s a neckless she wears almost daily.

Completed Art

The image on the left is the final design, the image in the middle was the first version, and the image on the right is the inspiration photo provided by my client. Once the body art was complete, the rest of the design was fairly quick to put together.  After two small adjustments the artwork was approved. The final size was 3.25’ by 5’.

The Event

The printed piece on the day of the event. The stand was a popular topic of conversation.

Picture

I created a second piece to give my client as a separate gesture. Her father passed a few years before her wedding. I found a reference photo she had posted on social media and created a cartoon character of her late father. Then, I created a 5” by 7” frame and arranged them as if they were standing together in a photo on her wedding day. I knew my client well enough to know that she would appreciate the gesture and she very much did.
